Spring 2023 Workshops in OKC
We're excited to host a series of workshops with partner organizations throughout the Oklahoma City metro area this spring! Each workshop will focus on a different aspect of the Yard by Yard program. They will consist of educational presentations from local experts, guided tours of conservation practices, family-friendly activities, and meet-and-greet opportunities. We hope to see you there!
Home Food Production - Getting Started and Leveling Up
March 4th, 2023 - 1:00-4:00 - Science Museum Oklahoma
Join us for a workshop at the Science Museum Gardens to learn all about growing your own food at home! The workshop is free and open to the public, but museum admission is required. Come learn from local farmers and gardeners and meet the people and organizations available to help you with all of your garden needs! The first 30 people to register here can get free admission to the museum to attend the workshop.
Topics include:
- Meet-and-greet with local farmers, Master Gardeners, beekeepers and more
- Take-home activity (up-cycled seed starters)
- Gardening basics
- Best veggies for beginners
- Backyard beekeeping basics
- Backyard chicken basics

Surviving the Drought - Water-Saving Landscaping for Oklahoma Summers

Welcoming Wildlife - Supporting Birds (and More) in Your Backyard
May 6th, 2023 - 1:00-4:00 - Martin Park Nature Center
Join us for a workshop at the Martin Park Nature Center to learn all about providing wildlife habitat at home! Come learn from Yard by Yard and Martin Park staff and meet the people and organizations available to help you with all of your wildlife habitat needs!
Topics include:
- Native plants
- Host plants for butterflies and other pollinators
- Creating habitat structure
- Identifying native bees
- Choosing and caring for native trees for the home landscape
- Guided tour of the park
